George Clooney recently shared why he and his wife, Amal, chose to raise their twins in rural France, describing it as a far better environment than Los Angeles.

In an Esquire interview, the 64-year-old actor explained that life on their French farm keeps his 8-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, grounded.

Clooney reflected on his own childhood, noting he grew up on a farm but disliked it as a kid. Now, he sees its value for his children.

“They’re not glued to iPads,” Clooney said. “They dine with adults and clear their own dishes, which teaches them responsibility.”

He emphasized that this lifestyle gives his twins “a much better life” away from Hollywood’s intense scrutiny and fame culture.

Clooney expressed concerns about raising kids in Los Angeles, fearing the entertainment industry’s influence would overshadow their childhood.

“In France, fame isn’t a big deal,” he said, noting that his kids can grow up without worrying about paparazzi or comparisons to other celebrity children.

Amal Clooney, a renowned human rights lawyer, has also been in the spotlight for her work with the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In April 2025, the U.K. Foreign Office warned her and other ICC advisers of potential U.S. sanctions, tied to an executive order from President Donald Trump, per The Guardian.

Clooney praised Amal’s courage to CNN’s Anderson Cooper, highlighting her efforts against Hezbollah and ISIS, saying, “She’s the bravest person I’ve ever met.”

While promoting his Broadway adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck, Clooney admitted to Esquire that performing at his age was nerve-wracking, requiring intense preparation to avoid forgetting his lines.
