The film industry is reeling from the loss of a creative genius whose unforgettable artwork shaped the visual identity of some of the most iconic movies in modern history.

This visionary, celebrated for their contributions to films like Hocus Pocus, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars, left an indelible mark on cinema.

Renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg paid tribute, saying, “They made event art,” according to the Independent, highlighting the artist’s ability to create timeless imagery.

Spielberg noted that their photorealistic work evoked vivid memories, stating, “The memory of those movies and the age we were when we saw them always comes flashing back.”

Guillermo del Toro shared his sorrow on Bluesky, writing, “The world lost a genius communicator and supreme artist. I lost a friend, beloved.”

DC president and artist Jim Lee described the individual as “a giant among giants,” praising their ability to capture humanity, power, and emotion in their work.

Lee added, “Thank you for bringing to life all the tentpole moments of my childhood and beyond,” reflecting the artist’s profound cultural impact.

The artist, revealed as Drew Struzan, passed away on October 13, 2025, at age 78, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease, leaving behind a monumental legacy.

Struzan’s Instagram account shared the heartbreaking news, stating, “Drew Struzan has moved on from this world as of yesterday, October 13th,” and noted his joy in knowing fans cherished his art.

Over five decades, Struzan crafted over 150 film posters, each becoming synonymous with the films they represented, from Star Wars to Back to the Future.

Though he retired in 2008, Struzan returned for projects like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, his work forever etched in cinema history, as documented in the 2013 film Drew: The Man Behind the Poster.
