Snoop Dogg has ignited a heated debate after expressing discomfort with LGBTQ+ themes in children’s films during a recent podcast, sharing a story about his grandson’s confusion while watching a Disney movie.
On the August 20 episode of Dr. Sarah Fontenot’s “It’s Giving” podcast, the 53-year-old rapper voiced his concerns, stating, “What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere.”
Snoop recounted taking his grandson to see Disney’s 2022 animated film “Lightyear,” where he was surprised by a storyline featuring a character with two mothers.

“They said, ‘She had a baby — with another woman.’ My grandson, right in the movie, goes, ‘Papa Snoop? How does a woman have a baby with another woman?'” he recalled.
“I thought, ‘Damn, I didn’t sign up for this,'” said Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. “I just wanted to enjoy the movie.”
His grandson, visibly perplexed, pressed further, asking, “They said she and she had a baby — both women. How’s that possible?”
“I’m like, hell, now I’m scared to go to the movies,” Snoop admitted, adding, “You’re putting me in situations I can’t explain.”

“It threw me off,” Snoop continued. “I’m thinking, ‘What’s this doing in a kids’ movie? They’re too young for this, and I don’t have answers for their questions.’”
His comments quickly drew sharp criticism in the YouTube comments section of the podcast.
“How can a man over 50 not know how to explain same-sex parents to a child? It’s not that hard,” one viewer remarked.

“It’s 2025, and you’re still out here being homophobic? That’s a bad take on the lesbian couple,” another critic wrote.
“Just say adoption! That’s how two women have a kid,” a third commenter suggested, pointing out what they saw as an obvious solution.

“Here’s Snoop Dogg, king of weed and gangsta rap, but spooked by a kids’ movie with representation,” one X user mocked in a post.
“Why not just say, ‘Sometimes a boy loves a boy or a girl loves a girl, and that’s fine,’ and move on?” another user countered.
Later in the podcast, Snoop shifted gears, claiming that “masculinity is being stripped from men” in today’s media.

“I watch TV, commercials, movies, and they always show Black men as less strong than they could be,” he said.
“We’re showing different sides of Black men, which is fine, but you’re pushing that as the main image and forgetting the strength that leads,” Snoop argued. “Without this (points to himself), we can’t keep generations going.”
He proudly added, “I’ve got 10 grandbabies because I’m the man.”
