The corset ran from her hips up to beneath her bust, narrowing the waist and offering gentle elevation.
It formed the iconic hourglass silhouette, enhanced by Matso’s chosen fabrics.
He layered crystal mesh by hand, stitching each piece to match the underlying steel framework.
“Corsets anchor every dress to secure the drapes,” Matso stated.
“It functions as a bodysuit corset with the gown constructed atop it. Loosen the corset, and the waist illusion vanishes.”
The entire piece was handmade, tailored precisely to the wearer’s measurements.
The gown’s journey started months prior in New York, during Matso’s debut big partnership guided by Cowan.
It ranked among five bespoke creations for Cowan’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection, all fully crafted by hand.
Matso reportedly logged up to 13-hour days for six weeks in the workshop perfecting them.
He attached the mesh to the steel-boned corset in segments to prevent sagging.
Draping was tweaked by hand, seams strengthened to sustain fabric pull.
Show accounts say Matso himself tied the models into the garments for flawless fitting.
Crystal mesh overlaid a skin-colored foundation, faking see-through while hiding the corset.

He’s now studying at Polimoda in Florence, honing couture methods and eco-friendly fabrics.
Cowan, a decade-long fashion force, graduated London College of Fashion with Central Saint Martins prep and gained fame in 2014 via Dazed for a Lady Gaga look, later working with Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, and Lil Nas X.
